Phil is now into his third decade of devoted daily yoga practice and views teaching as a natural extension of that journey – sharing the transformative power of authentic contemplative traditions & the subtle bliss that arises when the mind rests in its natural, liberated state.
Phil teaches students and teachers of all levels through group classes, one-to-one tuition, workshops and teacher training programmes in London and beyond. While his teaching encompasses dynamic physical forms of yoga (vinyasa, ashtanga), the ultimate aim extends far beyond physical practice: complete liberation in this lifetime. Increased physical strength, flexibility, mental clarity & focus will be unavoidable by-products of this process.
In a previous incarnation (in this life) phil completed some formal studies including a PhD. Following a research position at Oxford, he chose to dedicate himself fully to the study of yogas. Since then, he has completed extensive trainings, including Senior Yoga Teacher and RYT500 qualifications, most recently with Prof. Thurman et al. Along the way, he has received teachings and transmissions across Buddhist traditions – more than he could reliably count!
A teacher of teachers as well as complete beginners, phil values working with students at every stage of their journey. In particular, he considers it a privilege to introduce newcomers to yoga, recognising that a first encounter with yoga may plant the seed for a lifetime of practice & benefits.
Phil serves as managing director of Sangye Yoga School- he views the running of the school to be a part of his sadhana (practice).
